EV SUBSIDY: The central government is planning to intensify the subsidy process on the purchase of electric vehicles (EV). The time to release the subsidy is ready to reduce from 45 days to one week. For this, the check process of documents related to the customer and buyer will be simplified and intensified.
Currently, subsidy is being given on the sale of two-wheelers, three-wheelers (auto, e-cart, rickshaw) vehicles under the PM E-Drive Scheme. This subsidy is found only when the process related to the sale of the vehicle is completed.
Dealers have to upload the vehicle registration number, buyer’s Aadhaar and other details on the portal. This then investigates through the IFCI vehicle portal appointed by the Ministry of Heavy Industries whether the vehicle claimed for subsidy is sold or not, as well as other necessary documents are examined.
Decided to investigate service centers
The Ministry of Heavy Industries has decided to investigate the service centers. Through surprise inspection, it will be seen whether companies have set up service centers with showrooms, and whether the necessary facilities are available in these centers.
The step is taken especially after complaints received against Ola Electric. Customers had alleged that the company sold vehicles, but did not provide service centers.
This initiative will not only bring transparency in the subsidy process, but customers will also get better service facilities. The government aims to promote electric vehicles and increase customers’ confidence.
