Honda’s electric SUV based on the 0 Series Alpha concept will be launched in India and Japan by 2027, and the company is also working on many more new models.
Honda is preparing to launch its new electric SUV Honda 0 Series Alpha in India and Japan by 2027. The company is working on many new models in the coming time and this SUV will play a very important role in Honda’s global electric strategy. At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, Honda Director and President Toshihiro Mibe presented the company’s long-term roadmap.
He clearly said that India will now be the most important part of Honda’s next growth strategy. Along with Japan and North America, Honda plans to invest more efforts in India than ever before, especially as global competition from Chinese auto companies continues to increase.
Honda 0 Series Alpha has been designed on minimalist and futuristic design language. The company claims that this SUV will give a range of more than 500 km on a single charge. Along with this, it will also have advanced software features and global-quality build. The special thing is that this model will be manufactured in India only, and along with domestic sales, it will also be exported to many countries. With this, India can become a global production hub for Honda’s electric vehicles.
Talking about the design, its look may look somewhat like Elevate, but underneath it, a completely new electric platform has been used, and not the changed structure of any petrol or diesel car. Honda’s current car lineup in India, Amaze, City and Elevate, is currently performing stable, but the company is now preparing to give them a new refresh by updating them.
Honda plans to launch 10 new models by 2030, which will include 7 SUVs. Upcoming models may include a new compact SUV (based on the Amaze/City platform), some new hybrid models and Indian editions of international models. The company does not want to depend only on electric, so it is also emphasizing on hybrid technology.
Although Honda has missed some initial opportunities in India’s rapidly growing SUV and EV market, the company wants to make a fresh start with the 0 Series Alpha. In the coming years, models like new generation City, new 7-seat midsize SUV and Elevate Hybrid can also be seen.
