The Hyundai Prime Taxi range includes the Prime HB hatchback based on the Grand i10 Nios and the Prime SD sedan based on the Aura.
Hyundai Motor India has entered the commercial segment by launching the Prime Taxi range. The range is specially designed for taxi and fleet operators who require high mobility, low cost and reliable vehicles. The range consists of two models, the prime HB hatchback (based on the Grand i10 Nios) and the prime SD sedan (based on the Aura). Booking has started across the country for Rs 5,000. The price of Prime HB starts at Rs 5.99 lakh and Prime SD starts at Rs 6.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
Like the standard version, the Prime HB and Prime SD are powered by the same 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder engine, paired with a factory-fitted CNG kit. According to Hyundai, this powertrain delivers low operating costs and long-term reliable performance while meeting the demanding everyday needs, which is the key demand of the commercial segment.
Hyundai has given the speed limit feature installed by the company in these vehicles, which limits the speed to 80 km/hour. Due to this, the vehicles are available ready from the showroom as per commercial norms. The CNG mileage of the Prime SD is stated to be 28.40 km/kg, while the Prime HB gives a mileage of 27.32 km/kg. With low running costs of around 47 paise per kilometre, Hyundai says the Prime range will help full-time taxi drivers earn more.
Speaking at the launch, Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO Designate, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “With Prime HB and Prime SD, the company is proud to enter the commercial mobility segment. He said that both these cars are reliable, robust and built for better earnings. They are aimed at providing fleet operators and taxi drivers with longer uninterrupted run times, fixed maintenance costs and lower running costs.”
Full attention has also been paid to safety and comfort, which is generally less seen in affordable commercial vehicles. Both models have 6 airbags, rear AC vents, front-rear power windows, rear parking sensors, emergency stop signal and three-point seat belts. Apart from this, facilities like height adjust seat, audio control on steering, footwell light and Type-C USB fast charging are also available in them.
Hyundai is also offering some optional accessories to further improve fleet utilization. These include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), vehicle location tracking device with rear camera and four panic buttons. Along with this, the company has also introduced a specially designed ownership package. Hyundai is offering an extended warranty of up to five years or 1,80,000 km, flexible finance facility up to 72 months and on-trend fleet care advisors at the dealership. Both the models are available in three colors with Atlas White, Typhoon Silver and Abyss Black.
