Hyundai will launch a new compact electric SUV in India in the coming years, which will be capable of offering a range of up to 450 km.
Recently Hyundai has shared its biggest plan till date. The company aims to sell 55.5 lakh cars worldwide by 2030. Electric and hybrid cars will play a big role in this target and about 60% of the total sales will come from these. For this, the company will focus on new design, better software and more production capacity.
As part of its India-focused strategy, Hyundai has announced plans to bring its Genesis luxury lineup to the market over the next few years. Along with this, the company is preparing to launch its first extended range electric cars by 2027, which is claimed to have a range of up to 965 kilometers on a single charge globally.
Hyundai is going to launch many new models in India to further strengthen its plans. The company aims to launch a total of 32 new models in India by FY 2030. These will include 13 petrol/diesel vehicles, 8 hybrid models, 5 electric cars, 6 CNG models. This entire plan will be completed in the next 5 years, in which 26 new vehicles will be launched. This means that in the coming time, Hyundai will have many more options for the customers.
The most aggressive phase is scheduled between fiscal 2029 and fiscal 2030, when Hyundai plans to introduce 14 new or updated models. Hyundai is emphasizing on bringing many new models in India in the coming time. The company plans to launch 7 all-new cars, 6 completely redesigned models, 6 new variants and 7 facelifted/updated cars.
The brand will launch the all-new Venue early next month and bookings for it have already started, which will feature a number of updates both inside and out. Additionally, the company is also testing the facelifted versions of Ioniq 5, i20 and Verna. The upcoming India-focused Hyundai EV is expected to take styling inspiration from the brand’s popular compact SUVs like the Venue and exterior.
It may also include elements inspired by global models like Ioniq and Inster Electric. This new compact electric SUV will be positioned below Hyundai’s Creta Electric, so its price will also be kept affordable. Also, most of the parts will be made in India itself, so that the cost remains low and the price can be kept attractive.
At launch, it is expected to offer two battery options and is claimed to have a driving range of over 450 km on a single charge. It is likely to compete with Tata Punch EV, MG Comet, Citroen EC3 etc. and like the Hyundai, it may also include many high-end features.
