Tata Motors MD and CEO Shailesh Chandra has said that Sierra EV will be launched in India between July and September 2026.
Tata Motors has confirmed that the Sierra EV will be launched in the second quarter of FY2026-27. That means this electric SUV can hit the Indian market between July and September 2026. Its testing was going on for the last several months and now the picture regarding its launch date has become clear.
The Tata Sierra EV will be positioned above the Curvv EV and below the existing flagship Harrier EV in the company’s electric lineup. It will be based on the Acti.ev+ platform and will also share many key components with the Harrier EV, which has received a good response from customers.
This electric SUV is expected to get two battery pack options, one will be a 55 kWh battery pack which can be taken from the Curvv EV and the other will be a larger 65 kWh battery pack. With a larger battery, the Sierra EV can deliver a real-world range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge. Both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive options can be found in it.
Apart from this, Sierra EV will support DC fast charging and it can also be provided with bi-directional charging technology like V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) and V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle). A 12.3-inch three-screen layout will be seen in the cabin. It will include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch front passenger display.
Along with this, OTA updates and connected car technology will also be provided. Talking about other features, Tata Sierra EV is expected to have features like Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, powered front seats and dual-zone climate control. Talking about the price, its starting ex-showroom price can be around Rs 17.5 lakh.
At this price, it will compete with electric SUVs like Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Hyundai Creta Electric and Mahindra XEV 9e. Talking about design, the exterior of Sierra EV will be slightly different from its petrol/diesel model. It may see a closed front grille and some EV-specific changes, while the cabin layout and feature list are expected to remain largely the same.
