Mahindra’s Scorpio SUV to top 7-seater segment sales charts in September 2025

The demand for 7-seater cars is continuously increasing in the Indian market. Now more people are preferring such cars which can provide the facility to travel comfortably with the entire family or a large group. Because of this, the list of 7-seater cars is also getting longer day by day. The recent reduction in GST rates by the government has also led to a decline in the prices of these cars, which has brought relief to the buyers and the sales of this segment are expected to increase further.

Last month, Mahindra Scorpio (Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic) has been the best selling 7-seater car in the Indian market. With 18,372 units, the SUV has registered a growth of 27 per cent year-on-year, leaving the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga behind. This shows the increasing demand for Mahindra SUVs.

Ertiga MPV stood second with sales of 12,115 units. Compared to 17,441 units in September 2024, it has registered an annual decline of 31 percent. Toyota retained the third position in the 7-seater segment with the popular Innova (Innova Hycross and Innova Crysta), with sales of 9,783 units in September 2025. Its sales have increased by 21 percent on an annual basis.

Last month, Mahindra XUV700 sales registered a growth of only 1 percent year-on-year with 9,764 units sold. Whereas Kia Carens (Carens and Carens Clavis) has registered sales of 7,338 units with a growth of 18 percent on year-on-year basis. The launch of the facelifted Carens Clavis has helped the brand garner even more sales.

At the same time, Toyota has been successful in selling 2,783 units of Fortuner SUV in September 2025. full size suv has registered a growth of 13 per cent, highlighting its continued demand in the market. Mahindra Bolero sales have declined by 66 percent year-on-year, which is the highest in this list of best-selling 7-seater cars in India. The recently launched updated Bolero with better features and a huge price cut is likely to boost its sales further.

The Renault Triber, which recently got a major mid-life facelift update, has registered sales of 2,587 units. The most affordable 7-seater car in the Indian market has benefited from a facelift and has registered a growth of 68 per cent year-on-year. Maruti Suzuki XL6 and Tata Safari occupied the last two spots in the top 10 list with sales of 2,170 and 2,000 units respectively.
