Maruti Suzuki e Vitara launched in Indian market, price Rs 10.99 lakh

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara electric SUV is claimed to have a range of up to 543 km on a single charge.

Maruti Suzuki has today launched its first electric SUV e Vitara in the Indian market. Under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme, its starting price has been kept at Rs 10.99 lakh, in which Rs 3.99 will have to be paid separately for every kilometer of battery use. This price is applicable on the Delta variant under the BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) model.

In the Indian market, this new electric SUV will compete with models like Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra XEV 9e, MG ZS EV and Tata Curve EV. The company is also offering special ownership benefits to attract customers. This includes assured buyback of 60 percent after three years, free home charger installation, 8 years warranty and free public charging for one year. Production of e Vitara has started at Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Gujarat and units made in India are also being exported.

This electric SUV is based on the Heartect-e skateboard platform. This electric The length of the SUV is 4,275 mm, width is 1,800 mm and height is around 1,640 mm, while the wheelbase is 2,700 mm. The ground clearance is around 185 mm and the boot space is 310 litres, which can be considered sufficient for everyday use.

Talking about the cabin, it has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, powered front seats, automatic climate control, connected-car technology and 360-degree camera. Apart from this, level-2 ADAS features like adaptive cruise control are also provided.

The e Vitara electric SUV has two battery options with 48.8 kWh and 61.1 kWh. The smaller battery generates power of 144 PS, while the larger battery generates power of 174 PS. Torque of 192.5 Nm is available in both the variants. With a large battery, this SUV claims to give a range of up to 543 km on a single charge. DC fast charging can charge the battery from 0 to 80 percent in about 50 minutes.

Along with this, the company is also developing a long-term charging ecosystem to create more than one lakh public charging stations across the country. The e Vitara is also quite strong in terms of safety. It has received 5-star rating in India NCAP. Features like 7 airbags, electronic stability control, ABS-EBD and ISOFIX child seat mount are provided as standard.
