Although Maruti Suzuki has had good success with SUVs like Fronx, Brezza and Grand Vitara, it is constantly facing competition from companies like Hyundai, Mahindra, Tata Motors, Kia and Toyota. Keeping this in view, the company is emphasizing on increasing the number of its products. The new models the company is working on include a new electric MPV codenamed YMC.

This will be the second electric car from Maruti Suzuki and is expected to be based on the same platform as the e Vitara. This electric MPV is being developed keeping in mind the needs of Indian customers and it will compete with vehicles like Kia Carens Clavis EV. It is likely to get more space, better practicality and premium features.

The company is also working on facelift versions of Baleno and Brezza. Apart from this, the company is also working on a new compact SUV, which will replace the recently discontinued Ignis. Several flex-fuel models are also under development. Maruti Suzuki is preparing to increase its production rapidly. The company aims to produce around 28.2 lakh vehicles in FY27, while it produced around 23.1 lakh vehicles in FY26.

If this target is achieved, the company’s production will increase by about 22 percent, which will be one of the biggest annual production growth of Maruti Suzuki in recent years. Until new models come into the market, Maruti Suzuki’s existing popular vehicles will remain the mainstay of sales. In FY27, the company’s focus will mainly be on models like Fronx, Baleno, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, Swift and WagonR.

Fronx has become one of the best-selling SUVs in the country, while Grand Vitara is performing strongly in the midsize SUV segment. Ertiga is one of the most popular vehicles in the MPV segment and Baleno, Swift and WagonR are continuously registering strong sales in the hatchback segment.

Maruti Suzuki is preparing for a market in the coming years where the role of SUVs, hybrid and electric vehicles is going to become even more important. With 7 new SUVs, a new electric MPV and big plans to increase production, it is clear that Maruti Suzuki is preparing to take its business to new heights in the coming years.
