Maruti Suzuki and Toyota in India to come Will launch its first electric car in the coming weeks
The electric vehicle (EV) segment in India is growing rapidly, mainly due to the continuous launch of new models. In the year 2026, along with the first electric cars of Maruti Suzuki and Toyota, some electric cars of Tata Motors will also be launched in the market. Here we are telling about the upcoming electric cars of Maruti, Toyota and Tata to be launched in 2026.
1. Maruti Suzuki and Vitara
Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the e-Vitara will be launched in the first quarter of 2026 and is likely to go on sale in the coming weeks. This first electric car of the company was officially introduced in December 2025. This EV will be available in three variants Delta, Zeta and Alpha. It will get two battery pack options of 49 kWh and 61 kWh, whose range as claimed by ARAI will be up to 543 kilometers on a single charge. Based on the Heartect-e platform, the India-spec model of this car will come only in front-wheel drive. With 61 kWh battery, it will get power of 172 bhp and torque of 193 Nm.
2. Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has recently unveiled the urban cruiser Abela in the Indian market. This is Toyota’s first electric car, which is essentially a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara, although its exterior design is a bit sharper and different. The interior and features have remained almost the same. The urban cruiser Abela will be offered in three variants – E1, E2 and E3. It will have 48.8 kWh and 61.1 kWh battery pack options, whose claimed range will also be up to 543 kilometers.
3. Tata Sierra EV
Tata Motors is preparing to launch Sierra EV in the Indian market in the first quarter of 2026. The exterior design of this electric SUV has already been revealed. It looks different from the ICE Sierra and has a blanked-off grille at the front. The Sierra EV, based on the ARGOS platform, may also get the option of all-wheel drive. Complete information related to its powertrain has not been revealed yet, but according to reports, it can get 55 kWh battery pack of Curve EV and 65 kWh battery pack of Harrier EV. Its range can be up to 500 kilometers on a single charge.
4. 2026 Tata Tiago EV Facelift
Tata Motors is preparing a facelift model of its most affordable electric car Tiago EV, which was launched in 2022. Recently it was seen for the first time during testing and it is expected to be launched by mid-2026. The facelift model may see mild changes in the exterior, which will include new bumpers, front grille and headlamps. There is a possibility of getting a fully digital instrument cluster and new upholstery inside the cabin. It will have the same 19.2 kWh (medium range) and 24 kWh (long range) battery options as before.
5.Tata Avinya Sportback
The Tata Avinya nameplate is confirmed to be launched in the Indian market by the end of 2026. According to reports, the first car in the Avinya range will come with a stylish sportback design. It will be based on Jaguar Land Rover’s Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform, which is an advanced electric skateboard platform. Not much information is available about it, but Avinya Sportback will target the premium EV segment and will compete with cars like Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. Its range on a single charge is expected to be more than 600 kilometers.
