New 350 cc Triumph bikes ready to enter India, Rajiv Bajaj revealed

Triumph Thruxton 400

Triumph’s new entry-level range will include 350 cc motorcycles to be launched in a few months, to take advantage of GST 2.0 rules

New plans for Triumph Motorcycles will be revealed in April 2026. Bajaj Auto Managing Director and CEO Rajiv Bajaj has confirmed that new Triumph motorcycles with sub-350 cc capacity are on the way. This move is related to India’s tax structure, which was changed last year.

Currently, motorcycles above 350 cc attract 40 percent GST, while bikes with engines 350 cc or less attract only 18 percent GST. This big difference has a direct impact on the price. In the Indian market where customers give a lot of importance to price, this price difference can decide the success or failure of any product.

Triumph’s current India-centric lineup includes the Triumph Speed 400, Triumph Scrambler 400 That means they are above the tax limit of 350 cc. Now Bajaj and Triumph are preparing to reduce the engine capacity of these models to slightly less than 350 cc. For this, instead of making a completely new engine, the existing 399 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine will be modified.

There is a possibility that by changing the bore size of the engine, its capacity will be brought down to 350 cc, so that the development cost can be reduced and tax benefits can be availed. However, there may be a slight reduction in power. The current engine produces around 40 horsepower and 37.5 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

In the updated version, the power may reduce to around 34–35 horsepower, but there will not be much difference felt in everyday riding. Lower taxes will give Triumph the opportunity to keep prices low, which will enable it to give tough competition to companies like Royal Enfield in the mid-capacity segment. This change cannot be limited to Triumph only.

It is believed that similar changes can be made in KTM’s 390 series, Bajaj’s Dominar 400 and Pulsar NS400Z, so that they can avail the benefit of tax exemption. However, the official timeline of these models has not been announced yet. At the same time, information about a major update in the Bajaj Pulsar range by the middle of this year has already been revealed.
