Next Gen Kia Sonet

The new generation Kia Sonet has been spotted testing in India for the first time and will be launched next year.

Kia Sonet was launched in September 2020 and was the third model of the company and was launched in the compact SUV segment. Now, after selling more than 5 lakh units in 5 years, the company is working on its second generation model, which can be launched next year. The new generation Kia Sonet has been codenamed ‘Kia QY2E’.

It has been seen recently for the first time during testing. Usually, testing of new cars of Hyundai and Kia is first seen in South Korea, but this time it has been seen directly on Indian roads. It is covered, yet it is clearly visible that the company has almost completed its design and is now testing the production ready model.

The design of Kia Sonet in the new generation may be more modern and sporty than before. There will be a larger and wider grille at the front, which will be placed lower compared to the current model. Apart from this, split headlamp setup can also be seen, which will make the SUV look more aggressive. Additionally, new bumper and lower air intake will also be provided.

New dual tone 16-inch alloy wheels can be found in the side profile, whose design will be inspired by the 17-inch wheels of the new Kia Seltos. At the rear, the design of the connected tail lamps, tailgate and bumper may be completely new. Talking about the features, the current Sonet has a single pane sunroof, but the new Sonet is expected to get a panoramic sunroof.

Inside the cabin, the design of the dashboard, steering wheel, center console and door panels will be completely new. The company can provide a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will work on the Pleos Connect system. Apart from this, Level 2 ADAS features can also be provided, due to which the safety will be better than before.

The new Kia Sonet will be built on the K1 platform, on which the Kia Syros is based. There is no possibility of getting a new engine or gearbox at the time of launch. However, Kia has confirmed that a hybrid variant of the Sonet will also be introduced by 2029. The company may launch the new Kia Sonet in the second quarter of 2027.
