The new Toyota Hilux will be launched in India soon and will come with major changes inside and out and will be based on the updated IMV platform
According to information received from the dealer, the new Toyota Hilux will be launched in India on July 28, 2026. Many major changes have been made to the new Hilux inside and out. Its front design has been completely redesigned, which looks wider and more modern than the current model. The thin LED lights, black panel in the middle and the big Toyota logo give it a more powerful look than before.
The new Hilux will see larger and square wheel arches, higher body line and more powerful design. This pickup will be built on the IMV ladder-frame platform as before, but improvements have been made in its suspension and other parts. This will improve the driving experience on the road and it will be more capable than before even on bad roads and off-roading.
This pickup will be capable of carrying goods up to 1 tonne and towing up to 3.5 tonnes. Apart from this, the ability to wade in water up to 700 mm and good ground clearance make it strong even on difficult roads. In global markets, the new Hilux is offered with a 2.8-litre diesel engine, which also gets a 48-volt mild-hybrid system in some variants.
This engine produces 204 PS power and 500 Nm torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Big changes will also be seen in the cabin. The new Hilux will get a larger digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system, while the dashboard design will be inspired by the new Land Cruiser.
Apart from this, features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, connected car technology, 360-degree camera and ADAS can also be provided. A fully electric version of the Hilux is also available in some international markets, with a 59.2 kWh battery pack and dual electric motors. However, at present the chances of it coming to India are considered less.
The new Hilux will have a length of 5,320 mm, wheelbase of 3,085 mm, width of 1,885 mm and height of 1,815 mm. At the same time, Toyota may also bring a new electric MPV based on Maruti Suzuki YMC in the future. Apart from this, testing of the next generation Fortuner has also started globally and it is expected to be launched in India next year.
