Nissan’s new compact MPV will be based on a localized platform and will be powered by a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder petrol engine.

There have been many new launches in the Indian market in the last two months, which include names like Mahindra XEV 9S, BE 6 Formula Edition, new Tata Sierra. The new Kia Seltos has also debuted and the MG Hector facelift is also going to be launched on December 15. Meanwhile, a budget MPV will also hit the market in December.

Nissan has confirmed that it will introduce its India-focused MPV on December 18. The company has already released its teaser, and many information about it has also been revealed. Although Nissan has not yet revealed its name, but from the teaser and pictures seen during testing, it seems that this vehicle will be similar to Renault Triber and will be built on the same platform.

Its overall body shape is like Triber, but Nissan has made a lot of changes in its front part. It has a larger grille with a hexagonal design, new headlamps, and a C-shaped design on the bumper, making the MPV look more modern and impressive. This model also has functional roof rails and newly designed alloy wheels, which give it a different look from the Renault Triber.

At the rear, slight changes can also be seen in the bumper and tail-lamp design and some different color options will also be given. The interior design will also be mostly similar to the Triber, with changes likely to be minimal. It will see a 2+3+2 seating layout, where the second row will come with slide, recline and fold-and-tumble functions, while the boot space can be increased by removing the third row.

Features are expected to include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system (wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto), 7-inch digital driver display and wireless charger. For safety, features like front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, 6 airbags, ESC, HSA and TCS can be found.

To power it, it is likely to get a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder petrol engine, which will give power of 71 HP and torque of 96 Nm. It can be given options of 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. Apart from this, Nissan will also launch its new SUV Tecton by the middle of next year.
