New SUVs from Tata, Renault and Nissan are coming to challenge Hyundai Creta.

Tata Sierra SUV

3 new midsize SUVs will be launched in the Indian market in the coming months, which will compete with Hyundai’s Creta.

Hyundai Creta has been the most popular car in the mid-size SUV segment for many years, but now the competition in this segment is going to increase further. Tata Motors, Renault and Nissan are preparing new mid-size SUVs, which can give tough competition to Creta. Tata Motors is soon bringing back Sierra in a new form. The near-production version of the Sierra, shown at the Auto Expo 2025, will have a square design and has been spotted testing several times.

The new Tata Sierra will come with an all-new 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine. There will also be a turbocharged version, which will give 168 hp power and 280 Nm torque. Apart from this, it is also expected to get a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine, which will produce 116 HP of power and 260 Nm of torque.

Sierra.ev is also in the works, and will be launched soon after its ICE version. The Sierra.ev is expected to differentiate itself in its segment with a dual-motor AWD setup, a touchscreen for the front passenger and a lounge version with 2+2 seating.

Renault is now just months away from announcing the third generation Duster in India. The new model features a strong exterior design that gives a great road presence, along with a modern interior with a host of new features. It is expected that the company will also provide a sunroof in it, because till now sunroof has not been seen in the model seen during testing.

The new Duster is likely to go on sale in early 2026. It will have a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which will give a power of about 160 HP and a torque of about 250 Nm. Renault will also launch its hybrid version in the next one year, but like the first generation, there is no plan to offer a diesel engine this time.

Nissan is currently working on its new SUV ‘Tecton’, which is expected to be launched in India in June-July 2026. Nissan has already teased its exterior design, which sports a sharper and more modern look inspired by the seventh-generation Nissan Patrol. In terms of engine, gearbox and features, this SUV will be like the new Renault Duster.
