The new Tata Sierra will go on sale in India next month and will be offered in electric and petrol-diesel engines
Tata Motors is inching closer to the return of the Sierra nameplate in India. Its production-ready version will be officially launched on November 25, 2025. The new generation Sierra will be positioned between the Curve and the Harrier, targeting the midsize SUV segment and will be available in both electric and petrol-diesel versions.
The auto giant will launch the all-electric Sierra before its petrol and diesel cars. This upcoming electric car will reportedly be available with two battery pack options and can be claimed to offer a range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge. This model will have many components and electrical architecture of the Harrier EV and will support DC fast charging.
Tata is said to be developing three configurations of its 1.5-litre engine, which include a naturally aspirated petrol, a turbocharged TGDi petrol and a diesel engine. Designed to generate approximately 168 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque, this new turbo engine will be available with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions.
It is expected that the same engine will later be used in Harrier and Safari also. Its petrol-diesel (ICE) model will compete in India’s most popular SUV segment, where cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyrider, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun are already present.
The new Sierra definitely has a glimpse of the old model, but its design has now become more stylish and modern. It has the old familiar curved rear glass and square wheel arches, while the rest of the look is completely new. It gets split LED headlights at the front and wide connected LED light bar at the rear, which makes it even more attractive.
The layout of the dashboard is also all new and has three screens, one display for the driver, the second for the main infotainment and the third for the front passenger. The cabin also features dual-tone finish, 4-spoke steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo, ambient lighting, Harman audio system, wireless phone charging, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and selectable drive and terrain modes. Sierra will also get 6 airbags, electronic stability control, 360-degree camera setup, electric parking brake and level 2 ADAS.
