Updated Tata Tiago electric The hatchback has been given a new design, many new features and better safety features.
Tata Motors has launched the new Tata Tiago EV in India today. The company claims that it has now become India’s most feature-loaded electric hatchback. It has more than 90 features, 6 airbags in all variants and lifetime high-voltage battery warranty on 24 kWh battery pack. This warranty will be valid for 15 years for the first owner. At the same time, the 19.2 kWh battery will get a warranty of 8 years or up to 1.6 lakh km.
The new Tiago EV has been launched in 6 color options like Pangong Pulse, Sobo Surge, Dehradun Dew, Matheran Monsoon, Pure Gray and Pristine White. Its starting ex-showroom price has been kept at Rs 6.99 lakh, while the price of the top Creative+ 24 variant goes up to Rs 9.99 lakh.
The new Tiago EV has been introduced in four variants Smart 19, Pure+ 19, Pure+ 24 and Creative+ 24. Two battery options are available in this electric hatchback. The 19.2 kWh battery pack comes with a 45 kW (60 hp) motor, which produces 110 Nm of torque. Its claimed range is 226 km, while real world range is said to be around 160-170 km.
Whereas the 24 kWh battery pack has a 55 kW (74 hp) motor, which gives a torque of 114 Nm. Its claimed range is 285 km and real world range is said to be around 205-215 km. In the sport mode of 24 kWh variant, this car can accelerate from 0-60 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. Both battery packs support 1.2C fast charging.
With a 30 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 35 minutes, while providing a range of 100 km in 18 minutes. Major changes have also been made in the exterior of the new Tiago EV. It has new LED headlamps, LED DRLs, connected taillamps, new 14-inch Hyperstyle wheels, dual-tone black roof, new wheel arch cladding and chrome door handles.
The interior gets a new dashboard design. It has a 26.03 cm HD touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, full digital instrument cluster and iRA.ev technology with more than 40 connected car features. Apart from this, features like wireless charging, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, cruise control, Passive Entry and Start, cooled glovebox, Type-C USB port and auto-fold ORVMs are also available.
For safety, it has standard 6 airbags, 360-degree HD camera, Blind View Monitor, ESP, traction control, ABS with EBD, hill hold control, TPMS, rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlamps. Both the motor and battery pack have also received IP67 protection. The company claims that the new Tiago EV is one of the most spacious cars in its segment. It has more rear legroom, better headroom and higher seating position.
