The base-spec E variant of the Toyota Rumion is available only in manual transmission with petrol engine

Toyota has launched a new ‘E’ trim for its Rumion MPV in the Indian market. With the arrival of the new entry-level variant, the starting price of this MPV has now come down to less than Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). The new E trim is available at a price of Rs 9.55 lakh (ex-showroom), which is about Rs 96,000 cheaper than the earlier base S trim (Rs 10.51 lakh).

However, along with the low price, some features have also been reduced. Talking about the exterior, Rumion E has chrome finish front grille, chrome front bumper garnish, full wheel caps and LED tail lamps. But it misses out on body-coloured ORVMs (electric adjust and fold), integrated turn signals and body-coloured door handles, which are available in the S trim.

In the interior, the company has given features like 60:40 split second row seat (one-touch slide and recline), 50:50 split third row seat (reclin function), dual-tone cabin, 12V power socket and driver side auto-down power window. However, it does not get remote key-less entry, front passenger seat back pocket, utility box with sliding armrest, vanity mirror in the passenger sun visor, chrome finish on the parking brake and gear knob, center console AC vent, USB Type-C charging port in the second row and auto-up function of the driver window.

In terms of safety, Rumion E has features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, ESP, hill hold, height adjustable front seat belt and rear parking sensor. The only thing it lacks compared to the S trim is a security alarm. Talking about the engine, this variant of Toyota Rumion comes with 1.5 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, which gives power of 102 hp and torque of 139 Nm.

It has a 5-speed manual gearbox. The option of 6-speed automatic transmission is also available in higher variants. In the S trim, customers can also choose the CNG version of the 1.5 liter engine. In CNG mode, this engine gives power of 87 HP and torque of 121.5 Nm.

The Toyota Rumion MPV can be purchased in E, S, G and V variants with manual and automatic transmissions. The price of this MPV ranges from Rs 9.55 lakh to Rs 13.86 lakh. The company will launch its first electric car, urban cruiser Ebella, in the coming weeks.
