new mahindra thar
Mahindra Thar is the most popular car among off-road lovers. A new facelift version of its 2-door model will arrive by the end of this year. Its design will be similar to Thar Rocks. It will get a new 6-slot grille and LED headlights with C-shaped DRLs. Comfort features like push-button start, passive key-less entry, wireless charger and ventilated front seats will be added inside the vehicle. However, no changes will be made in its engine and transmission.
JSW Plug-in Hybrid SUV
JSW Group will enter the Indian car market through its new company JSW Motors in September this year. Its first vehicle will be a rebadged version of Chery’s ‘Jetour Traveler C-DM’. This 5-seater D-segment SUV will come with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and two electric motors. It will have a battery pack of 27.2 kWh and 43.4 kWh. This vehicle will be able to cover a distance of more than 100 kilometers only in electric mode.
Next-Gen Toyota Fortuner
Toyota is bringing the third generation of its famous Fortuner SUV. It can be launched in India in the first half of 2027. The look of the new Fortuner will be sharper than before and the cabin will be quite premium. It will get electric power steering, 12.3-inch display, panoramic sunroof, electronic parking brake with auto-hold and level-2 ADAS. There will be no change in its engine and gearbox compared to the existing model.
Hyundai off-road SUV
Hyundai has also talked about bringing a new off-road SUV to India. This vehicle will be built on a monocoque platform and will come in petrol and petrol-electric hybrid variants. It will have front-wheel drive as standard. The option of all-wheel drive (e-AWD) will be given in its hybrid variant. This SUV is likely to hit the market by 2028.
Toyota Land Cruiser FJ
Toyota will launch ‘Land Cruiser FJ’ in India by the end of 2028. It will be a 5-seater off-road SUV positioned below the Fortuner. It will have a 2.7-litre petrol engine, 6-speed automatic transmission and part-time 4WD system. Its hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants will also be brought to India in future. Since it is made in India, its starting ex-showroom price can be around Rs 30 lakh.
