Ola’s market share in the electric two-wheeler segment was 36.7 percent in 2024, which will decline to 16.1 percent in 2025.
A big change was seen in the Indian electric two-wheeler market this year. Segment leader Ola Electric’s market share in domestic sales fell by more than 50 percent. While Ola’s share was 36.7 percent in 2024, it dropped to just 16.1 percent in 2025. On the other hand, legacy brands like TVS Motor Company, Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto increased their stake as Ola’s sales continued to fall.
It is being told that this EV company led by Bhavish Aggarwal had to face operational problems, irregularities in delivery and service related complaints. According to the data, Ola Electric sold only 1,96,767 units in 2025, whereas in 2024 its sales were more than 4 lakh units. According to vehicle portal data, even though the overall electric two-wheeler market saw sales growth, Ola could not take advantage of it.
In 2025, TVS Motor Company sold 2,95,315 units and emerged as the new leader in the electric two-wheeler segment with 24.2 percent market share. After this, Bajaj Auto remained at second place with 21.9 percent share. VG Ramakrishnan, Managing Partner, Avantium Advisors LLP, said that going forward, competition in the electric two-wheeler market will intensify not only in the scooter but also in the motorcycle segment.
According to Ramakrishnan, traditional brands are now growing rapidly on the basis of their strong service network, brand value and large-scale production capacity. They have a wide dealership network, strong after-sales support and a wide range of models, which Ola Electric currently does not have. Although Ola has started delivering electric scooters with its own developed battery cells, it will take some time for the company to get back on track.
Ola Electric’s closest rival Ather Energy also performed well in 2025. Ather’s market share was 11.3 percent in 2024, which increased to 16.2 percent in 2025, leaving Ola behind by a small margin. At the same time, Hero MotoCorp’s share also increased from 3.9 percent in 2024 to 8.8 percent in 2025.
Overall, 2025 has been a difficult year for the electric two-wheeler industry. Due to tension with China, essential rare earth metals were not available for some time. This caused problems in supply and also increased the cost. Ola will launch many new electric scooters and motorcycles in the Indian market in the future.
