After launching its first electric SUV e Vitara, Maruti Suzuki is now going to add a new MPV to its electric portfolio.
Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch many new cars in the Indian market. Recently a new car has been spotted testing and the pictures indicate that it will be Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming new 7-seater electric MPV. Although the car is completely covered, its boxy MPV design is clearly visible.
This MPV has a long wheelbase, large rear overhang and wide boot opening. There is a closed grill on the front, which indicates that it has an electric powertrain. Along with this, slim headlamp setup is also visible. The side profile shows a high roofline and large glass area for all three rows, while the rear has a square design and vertical taillamps. Its length can be around 4.5 meters.
Maruti Suzuki launched its first electric SUV e Vitara just a few months ago and YMC could prove to be the next big step in the company’s EV expansion. It is expected that this electric MPV may be launched by the end of 2026 or early 2027. With this, the company will be able to make a strong hold in the mid-size 7-seater electric segment.

The YMC could be co-developed with Toyota, as has been done with the e Vitara and the soon-to-arrive Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella. This MPV is likely to share the platform and powertrain components with the e Vitara. It may be produced at the Maruti Suzuki plant in Gujarat, where the e Vitara will also be made.
Using a common platform will help in keeping costs low and in large scale production. This is the reason why Maruti Suzuki YMC may be priced lower than the Kia Carens Clavis EV to attract more family buyers. The MG Windsor EV can also be a big reference point for this MPV, as it has proved that there is a good demand for electric vehicles with more space and practicality.

Maruti Suzuki already has a strong hold in this segment through MPVs like Ertiga and XL6, which YMC can benefit from. It is likely that the YMC will be equipped with the same 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs that will be found in the e Vitara. The company can claim that this MPV will be able to give a range of more than 500 kilometers on a single charge.
