Based on the Bridger concept, Renault will prepare its second compact SUV for India, which will be launched next year.
Renault has today unveiled the Bridger Concept, a compact SUV concept that gives a glimpse of the upcoming production model. It is believed that this model will play an important role in the company’s global expansion plan. This will be the new compact SUV in the company’s portfolio, which may be positioned below the Duster in future. Renault Duster is scheduled to be launched in India on March 17.
The Bridger concept has been designed keeping international markets in mind, but India will be one of the first markets where the production version will be launched. The company has confirmed that this SUV will be manufactured in India and is part of its plan to strengthen its presence in emerging markets. Its production is likely to start from 2027 and it can be launched in the market in the same year.
Talking about the design, the look of this concept SUV is straight and strong, due to which despite its small size, it looks quite powerful. The front features prominent body lines and wide lighting elements that extend till the grille. Apart from this, wide wheel arches, more ground clearance and the spare wheel mounted on the rear tailgate make it look like a real SUV.
A special feature of this concept is its 200 mm ground clearance, which makes it more practical. Additionally, it has 18-inch wheels, which makes its stance appear even stronger. Sharp and clean body lines are seen in its design. It is expected that when its production model arrives, most of these design elements will be retained in it too.
Despite its compact size, the company claims that it will provide good interior space. About 200 mm of knee-room has been provided for the rear passengers, which is considered quite good for an SUV in this segment. Apart from this, it will also get boot space of about 400 liters.
The production version will be built on Renault’s RGMP small modular platform. The same platform is also being used in the new Renault Duster and is being localized to a great extent in India. This platform supports a variety of powertrain options, so depending on different markets, this SUV can be offered in petrol, hybrid or fully electric versions.
