Powerful strong-hybrid engine
The upcoming Renault hybrid SUVs will be powered by a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine generates power of 109bhp. With this, a 49bhp electric motor and 1.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack will be provided. A 20bhp starter generator is also present in the system. Overall, this hybrid powertrain generates a total power of 160bhp and torque of 172Nm. It has a clutchless multi-mode gearbox, which improves the mileage.
How does hybrid technology work?
As soon as you press the start button of the vehicle, the electric motor directly supplies power to the wheels. With this, the car starts immediately without any noise and without wasting fuel. While driving at a speed of 50 to 60 kmph in the city, it can remain in EV mode 80 percent of the time. When the driver presses the accelerator hard, the engine, electric motor and starter generator work together to deliver a full power of 160bhp. The petrol engine works primarily during high speed highway driving.
Design and features
Talking about look and design, Renault Duster Hybrid will look quite similar to its standard petrol model. The only difference will be the ‘Hybrid’ badging found on the exterior. Modern features and advanced technology will be provided inside the cabin. This hybrid variant of Duster has been designed keeping in mind the customers who want premium features.
3-row SUV will come in 2027
After Duster Hybrid, Renault will launch a large 3-row SUV in the market in the year 2027. This new model will also be based on the Duster platform. It was shown in the global market with the name ‘Renault Boreal’. However, the design and features of the 7-seater Duster coming to India will be slightly different from the Boreal. This 3-row SUV will be longer in length and will get more cabin space. It will share the same platform and basic design elements as the Duster.
