Tata Motors has recorded total sales of 59,701 units in April 2026, which is an increase of 31.1 percent as compared to 45,532 units in the same month last year.

Sales data for April 2026 was very strong for Tata Motors, the biggest highlight of which was a 72 percent year-on-year increase in electric vehicle (EV) sales. In April 2026, the company dispatched a total of 9,150 EV units including domestic and international markets, whereas in April 2025 this figure was 5,318 units.

This growth can be attributed to good demand for models like Tata Punch EV, Tata Tiago EV and Tata Nexon EV, while the lineup also includes Tata Curvv EV and Tata Harrier EV. Overall, the company recorded sales of 59,701 units in April 2026, which is 31.1 percent higher than 45,532 units in the same month last year. This is considered to be a great beginning of the financial year 2026-27.

In the domestic market, Tata Motors sold 59,000 units, which is 30.5 percent more than 45,199 units in April 2025. This growth was not limited to any one segment, rather SUV, crossover and EV segments all contributed to it. Even though the volume was less in the international market, the growth was the highest.

Exports stood at 701 units in April 2026, which is an increase of 110.5 percent as compared to 333 units last year. The company has also performed well in the commercial vehicle (CV) segment. A total of 34,833 units were sold in April 2026, which is 28 percent more than last year’s 27,221 units.

In this, SCV cargo and pickup segment grew by 40.2 percent to 12,799 units, while HCV truck grew by 23.4 percent to 8,969 units and passenger carrier grew by 22.6 percent to 5,743 units. The ILMCV truck segment also witnessed a growth of 16.5 per cent with sales at 5,454 units. Domestic CV sales stood at 32,965 units (27.9% growth) while international business contributed 1,868 units (28.2% growth).

Overall, the company’s growth was seen in three main areas: total sales, domestic retail and EV sales. The special thing is that EV growth of 72 percent has come at a time when the total passenger vehicle market is not growing so fast.
