Jeep India is preparing to launch an all-new model in 2027, which will be the company’s first new product in the last five years.
Jeep has confirmed that it will launch a new SUV in India next year. According to earlier reports, the company was working on many new options to expand its market. These could include a midsize SUV measuring 4.3 to 4.6 meters long, which will be positioned below the Compass. Apart from this, a small and affordable Jeep SUV has also been discussed for a long time, which indicates that the company may also bring a compact model.
Models like Jeep Renegade and fully electric Avenger have been in the news before in the international market. Both these models have proven successful abroad and if Jeep wants to strengthen its hold in India, they can be launched here as well. Although, the company has not confirmed anything officially yet, but Jeep’s local manufacturing (localization) strategy can prove to be important in bringing new models.
This potential expansion is in line with Jeep’s new long-term plan for India ‘Jeep 2.0’. Under this plan, India is being made the main center of Jeep’s Asia-Pacific region. This clearly shows that India is now becoming an important market not only for sales but also for manufacturing, engineering and exports.
Jeep 2.0 adopts a phased strategy, which will focus on gradually strengthening the brand and increasing customer confidence. India is expected to play a dual role, that is, to meet the needs of domestic customers as well as help in development and production for global projects. In terms of products, Jeep will continue to leverage its strong SUV identity and heritage.
Although the new generation model is expected to arrive by the end of this decade, till then the existing models will be introduced in the market with regular updates, special editions and new features. Major changes with new platforms and advanced technology are likely to begin from 2027. The vehicles manufactured at the Ranjangaon plant near Pune are already being exported to countries like Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
In the coming time, Jeep is planning to expand this export network to parts of Africa and North America. Also, the company is strengthening localization to keep costs low. Jeep aims to use up to 90 percent local parts, which will keep vehicle prices better and reduce the impact of global supply chain problems.
