The Taigun and Kushaq facelift will get some updates on the exterior along with new features and are expected to be launched early next year.
Volkswagen and Skoda are preparing to launch updated (facelift) versions of their mid-size SUVs Taigun and Kushaq. Both the vehicles were spotted during testing recently. They are expected to be launched in the market in early 2026. Mechanically, there is no possibility of any major changes and both the SUVs will remain based on the MQB A0 IN platform localized in India, which is known for safety and strength.
Engine options will also remain the same as the current model. These will include 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (115 PS power and 178 Nm torque) and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine (150 PS power and 250 Nm torque). Gearbox options will be 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and 7-speed DSG, while 8-speed automatic can also be considered in the future.
Most changes in the facelift will be seen in the design. Changes on the Volkswagen Taigun will be mild, such as minor updates to the front grille, bumper and headlamps, while the C-shaped LED taillights will remain the same. New alloy wheels and new exterior color options can also be added with this.
Skoda Kushaq will also get a similar update, which will see a slightly changed bumper, new grille and updated headlamp design, while the overall profile of the vehicle will remain the same. Inside the cabin, clear improvements can be seen in both the vehicles. Its launch in the Indian market will be in January 2026.
The Taigun is expected to get a new dashboard layout, better quality materials and level-2 ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking and rear cross-traffic alert. The focus will be on making the interior of Kushaq more premium, which may include new upholstery, new center console, larger touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, wireless charging and 6 airbags in all variants.
After launch, the updated Taigun and Kushaq will compete with vehicles like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider and Honda Elevate. Apart from this, the upcoming new Renault Duster and Nissan Techton will also be its rivals. The facelifted Virtus and Slavia are also expected to launch in 2026.
