Tata Nexon ranked first in the list of top 10 SUVs in September 2025, while Hyundai Creta got the second position.

Last month proved to be important for the Indian SUV market. During this period, compact and midsize SUVs again maintained their dominance. According to the latest data, domestic brands like Tata and Mahindra once again performed strongly and increased both their sales and presence.

The Tata Nexon has comfortably retained its position as India’s best-selling SUV. Its sales have almost doubled year after year. With 22,573 units sold in September, the Nexon left all rivals behind to become the country’s number-one passenger car. Constant updates and the increasing popularity of its electric variants have played an important role in this success.

After this, Hyundai Creta has maintained its dominance in the midsize SUV segment. Despite tough competition, Creta posted strong sales of 18,861 units, up 19 percent over last year. At the same time, Mahindra Scorpio is also continuously maintaining its pace. Driven by growing demand for the Scorpio N and the affordable Scorpio Classic, its sales reached 18,372 units, registering a growth of 27 per cent year-on-year.

At the same time, sales of Mahindra Thar have crossed 11,800 units with a growth of 34 percent year-on-year. Hyundai Venue also maintained its position with sales of over 11,000 units due to the benefits of GST 2.0 and additional discounts, which increased the number of customers this festive season in India.

There was a significant decline in the sales of Maruti Suzuki Brezza and its total sales were 10,173 units. Whereas Mahindra’s XUV700 and XUV3XO have sold 9,764 and 9,032 units respectively. It is expected that this festive season will create new sales records.
