Tata Sierra EV will enter the Indian market on June 30, will get a range of more than 500 km.

These 8 new electric SUVs are ready to hit the Indian market - from Tata to Mahindra

Tata Sierra EV is expected to compete with electric SUVs like Maruti e Vitara, Hyundai Creta Electric, VinFast VF 6 and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella in the Indian market.

More than six months after the launch of the new Tata Sierra petrol-diesel, now its electric version is finally going to debut. Tata Motors is going to officially unveil its new midsize electric SUV on June 30. The company had shown a glimpse of Sierra EV in a promotional video released last year, which revealed many of its important design changes.

The biggest change will be seen in the front design of Tata Sierra EV. It will not have a black front mask like the ICE model and will be replaced by a body-coloured upper fascia. The LED DRL light bar spanning the entire width at the front of the SUV will be given a thicker and more attractive design.

The headlamps and fog lamps will be smartly housed within black panels. Apart from this, Tata Motors can also give it a “.ev” badge on the front door and new 19-inch alloy wheels, which will make it look different from the regular Sierra. Talking about the interior, the cabin of Tata Sierra EV is expected to remain largely similar to the ICE model.

It will get a three-screen high-tech dashboard, which may include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 12.3-inch passenger display and 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. However, some special software features and different color themes related to EV can be seen in it.

Talking about mechanical changes, Sierra EV will be provided with multi-link rear suspension for better ride quality. At the same time, instead of the front-wheel drive (FWD) setup of the ICE model, it will get a rear-wheel drive (RWD) layout. Additionally, an all-wheel drive (AWD) option may also be made available with the help of an additional electric motor.

Tata Motors is likely to offer the Sierra EV in standard-range RWD, extended-range RWD and extended-range AWD variants. The extended-range RWD variant can deliver a range of around 600 kilometers on a single charge. Apart from this, the SUV may also get Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) bi-directional charging feature, with the help of which the electricity stored in the battery can be used to run external devices.
