Renewing the registration of 15-year-old vehicles in the country is going to be costly from April 1, 2022. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had issued a notification in October 2021, stating that from April 1, 2022, renewing the registration of 15-year-old vehicles across the country would be up to 8 times more expensive. Let us tell you, this new rule has been named Central Motor Vehicles (23rd Amendment) Rules, 2021. This rule will come into force on 1 April 2022.
The rule will be applicable on 15 year old vehicles – According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, this rule will be applicable to 15 years old vehicles. In which for renewing the registration of two-wheeler, four wheeler and commercial vehicles, more fees will have to be paid than before.
How much fee will be levied on which vehicles – According to the rules of the Ministry of Transport, for renewing the registration of a 15-year-old car, Rs 5000 will have to be paid, which till now used to be only Rs 600. Similarly, to renew the registration of the old bike, one has to pay 1000 rupees, which till now used to be only 300 rupees.
Along with this, Rs 12,500 will have to be paid to renew the registration of a 15-year-old bus or truck, which used to be Rs 1500 till now. Along with this, 10 thousand rupees will have to be paid for the registration of small passenger motor vehicle. Which used to be Rs 1300 earlier.

Such fees will be levied on imported car-bike – For renewing the registration of imported car and bike, 40 thousand rupees and 10 thousand rupees will have to be paid. Apart from this, if the fitness certificate of your vehicle has expired and you go to get it renewed, then the fee will have to be paid by adding Rs 50 per day.
