The electric two-wheeler segment has started the new calendar year with strong year-on-year growth. During this period, traditional automakers like TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto have performed well, while some new EV startups have faced ups and downs due to increasing competition.

TVS Motor Company emerged as the leader of the electric two-wheeler market in January 2026. The Hosur-based company sold 34,440 electric two-wheelers in the month, a growth of 43.3 percent year-on-year and 36.6 percent month-on-month. The good response to the iQube and Orbiter ranges, growing dealer network and better financing options are helping TVS maintain its strong foothold.

Bajaj Auto retained the second position with sales of 25,520 units. The company has registered 18.9 percent annual growth and 34.7 percent monthly growth. The company is expected to gain further profits in the coming months due to the increasing demand for Chetak electric scooter and the recently launched affordable variants.
