VinFast VF 6 and VF 7 perform brilliantly in India NCAP crash test and both electric SUVs achieve 5-star safety rating
VinFast has achieved great achievements in terms of security in India. Both the company’s electric SUVs VF 6 and VF 7 have received 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash test. VF 6 has scored 27.13 out of 32 points in adult safety and 44.41 out of 49 points in child safety. The VF 7 performed even better, scoring 28.54 out of 32 points in adult safety and 45.25 out of 49 points in child safety.
According to the official report by India NCAP, both the SUVs performed very well in various crash tests. In the frontal offset crash test, the VF 6 and VF 7 received full 4 points for protection of the head, neck and legs of the driver and front passenger. In the side impact test also, both these vehicles showed strong safety and achieved good scores.
Both models scored 16.000 out of 16.000 points in adult safety and 8.000 out of 8.000 points in child safety. The results of the side pole impact test were also quite positive. The head injury criterion value for VF 6 was recorded at 109 and for VF 7 at 131, which is well below the Bharat NCAP limit of 700. This means that the body of these vehicles remains strong even in a serious side collision and the safety systems keep the passengers well protected.
Bharat NCAP, operated under the Government of India, conducts crash tests as per international standards like Global NCAP and ASEAN NCAP. In this, vehicles are given 3 to 5 star rating on the basis of adult and child safety. With a 5-star rating, the VF 6 and VF 7 have become among the safest vehicles tested in India.
Both of these electric SUVs from VinFast are assembled at the company’s manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu and are based on a specific EV platform. Talking about safety features, these include 7 airbags as standard, high-strength body structure and depending on the variant, ADAS features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Emergency Lane Keep Assist, Front and Rear Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection and Auto Lane Change Assist.
Commenting on this new achievement, Tapan Ghosh, CEO, Vinfast India, said, “The 5-star safety rating awarded to the VF 6 and VF 7 by India NCAP is a significant achievement. This achievement reflects the superior quality and high safety standards of Vinfast’s electric vehicles in the world’s largest automobile markets like India. These results highlight that Vinfast’s EV vehicles are built on strong engineering and have passed the stringent safety test standards. It fits the bill.”
