VinFast has released several teasers of its new VF MPV 7 in India and has also started pre-orders with a token amount of Rs 21,000 ahead of its launch. This new electric MPV will be launched this month and will compete with MPVs like Toyota Innova Crysta, Carence Electric.
VinFast VF MPV 7 is an affordable 7-seater family car, which has a 2+3+2 seating layout. Its length is 4,740 mm, width is 1,872 mm and height is 1,734 mm. It is larger in size than the Kia Carens Clavis EV, which is currently the only mass-market electric MPV in India.
Its wheelbase is 2,840 mm and ground clearance is 185 mm, which can also be changed according to the Indian roads. It has a boot space of up to 1,240 liters and weighs 1,875 kg. In the international market, it comes only in front-wheel drive (FWD) version and the single motor generates 150 kW (201 hp) of power and 280 Nm of torque.
This electric MPV has a 60.2 kWh LFP battery. It supports up to 6.9 kW from AC charger and 80 kW from DC fast charger. According to the company, it can be charged from 10% to 70% in just 30 minutes. It has three drive modes like Eco, Normal and Sport and regenerative braking can be controlled through paddle shifters. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about 10 seconds.
Talking about design, it has LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels and LED taillights. On the inside, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control (with PM 2.5 air filter), adjustable seats and multiple USB ports are provided. Safety features include 4 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, hill start assist, roll-over mitigation, rear camera and parking sensors.
VF MPV 7 does not have many premium features that Indian customers expect in this segment. These include panoramic sunroof, ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats, 360° camera system and level-2 ADAS. However, VinFast may make some changes and add some of these features for the Indian market.
