The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun is likely to get several cosmetic updates and interior changes, along with a new 8-speed automatic transmission.

Volkswagen is preparing to launch the updated (facelift) version of Taigun in the Indian market on 9 April 2026. After the recent facelift of its sibling Skoda Kushaq, now it is the turn of Taigun. Mechanically, the SUV will continue with its existing turbo petrol engine options.

It will have a 1.0-litre engine which produces 115 HP power and 178 Nm torque, while the 1.5-litre engine generates 150 HP power and 250 Nm torque. However, the big change could be the arrival of a new 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with the smaller engine, which will replace the old 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Talking about design, many cosmetic changes will be seen in the facelifted Taigun. It can be given slim LED headlamps, new lighting elements connected to the light bar in the middle and glowing Volkswagen logo. Apart from this, new grille, changed bumpers and updated tail lamp design will also be seen.

Changes will also be made in the interior. New upholstery theme and better quality materials can be found in it. Talking about the features, it can be given features like a large 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats and panoramic sunroof.

Volkswagen may also offer a new and more efficient air conditioning system to improve cabin cooling, which may use a variable-geometry compressor, which will be better suited to the Indian climate. Massage function can also be found in the rear seats, while panoramic sunroof can be provided in top variants and single-pane sunroof in base variants.

This SUV will be based on MQB A0 IN platform only. Apart from this, it is also expected to get increased boot space and more standard safety features. There may be a slight increase in price. After launch, this SUV will continue to compete with vehicles like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Toyota Hyrider, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and MG Astor.
