The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line 7-seater premium SUV will sit above the Tiguan in the portfolio and will be assembled locally.

Volkswagen India has officially confirmed the arrival of its new flagship SUV Tayron R-Line in India. This premium SUV will be launched in the first quarter of 2026. With the Tayron R-Line, Volkswagen will target customers who are looking for ample space, luxury, premium quality and excellent comfort in a premium 7-seater SUV.

Speaking on the occasion, Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen India, said, “As we strengthen our premium product portfolio, we are also meeting the changing expectations of Indian car buyers. The new Tayron R-Line is a true representative of our vision for Indian customers. To ensure competitive pricing, we will locally assemble this SUV at our plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.”

Volkswagen’s most premium SUV in India, the Tayron R-Line offers seating for 7 people with the company’s signature R-Line sporty design. This SUV comes with a strong and attractive look, in which special design elements of R-Line have been given. Due to these features, it sets a new standard of style and premium feel in its segment.

The biggest feature of Tyron is its large size. Its length is 4,770 mm, making it a complete family SUV. It is 231 mm longer than the European-spec Tiguan. Its wheelbase has also been increased to 2,791 mm, which is 110 mm more than before. This provides more space, especially to passengers sitting in the second and third rows.

The extended rear section makes the SUV look more powerful. Boot space in its 7-seater layout is 345 litres, while with the third row seats folded (in 5-seater mode) this increases to 885 litres. The R-Line version has a more sporty bumper and special design detailing, which makes its look more aggressive and attractive.

In the global market, this SUV is offered with a large 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, three-zone automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), Harmon Kardon premium audio, ambient lighting in the cabin and high-quality materials throughout. For the Indian market. Volkswagen is likely to keep engine options limited. It will have a 2.0 liter TSI turbo petrol engine, which is found in Tiguan R-Line. This engine produces 204 hp of power and 320 Nm of torque and will be paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
