Yamaha EC-06 has a 4.5 kW electric motor, which gives power up to 9 HP and is equipped with a 4 kWh fixed lithium-ion battery.
Yamaha has revealed the Aerox-E alongside the EC 06 in the Indian market. These were presented during an event organized in Mumbai. This scooter is based on the River Indie and is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2026. Its estimated price can be around Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The EC 06 will be manufactured at River’s factory in Hoskote (Karnataka).
The design of Yamaha EC 06 is sharper and boxier than Indy. It has modern features like LED headlamp, LED taillamp, disc brakes on both sides, and color LCD display. Its underseat storage is 24.5 litres, which is less than the Indy’s 43 litres.
This electric scooter has a 4 kWh fixed battery pack, which provides a range of 160 km. This battery is connected to a 4.5 kW electric motor, which gives power up to 9 bhp. According to Yamaha, it will take around 9 hours to fully charge from a home charger, which can be considered the longest charging time among Indian EV scooters.
The EC 06 has three ride modes – Eco, Standard and Power, as well as a reverse mode. It has an inbuilt telematics unit and SIM card, so you can see real-time data and connectivity on the LCD screen. Its top speed is 90 km/h, which is equal to River Indy. Its chassis has also been taken from Indi.
The Yamaha EC 06 is introduced as a modern and premium lifestyle electric scooter, which promises to deliver a smooth and responsive riding experience. It is specially designed for young and tech-savvy riders who value style, technology and sustainability.
At present, Yamaha is the only major ICE (petrol engine) brand in India that did not have an electric vehicle in its portfolio till now. Its rivals like Bajaj (Chetak EV), Hero (Vida V2), Honda (Activa e), TVS (iQube) and Suzuki (e-Access) are already present in this segment.
