Yamaha XSR 155 gets the same 155 cc liquid-cooled engine as the R15 V4 and MT-15 V2, which gives power of 18.1 bhp.
Yamaha has finally launched the XSR 155 in India and it has been awaited for a long time. Priced at Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the new model is the perfect combination of Yamaha’s classic design and reliable performance. It is specially designed for those riders who want to ride a stylish bike, but do not want to buy big bikes above 200cc.
This motorcycle is powered by a 155 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology. This engine gives power of 18.1 bhp at 10,000 rpm and torque of 14.2 Nm at 8,500 rpm. This engine delivers excellent top-end performance and strong mid-range power. It is fitted with a 6-speed gearbox and has assist and slipper clutch features as standard, which makes gear shifting even smoother and easier.
The XSR 155 features a Deltabox frame featuring the R15 and MT-15. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, while braking is handled by a 282 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear disc. It also has a dual-channel ABS system and traction control as standard. Suspension duties are handled by upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock.
In terms of design, the XSR 155 reflects the retro charm of Yamaha’s global XSR line. The round LED headlamps, teardrop-style fuel tank and flat single-piece seat give it a classic yet modern retro look. Despite its dated styling, the bike is packed with features like a fully-digital instrument cluster, LED lighting all around and premium body finish and it also has a 10-litre fuel tank.
The upright riding posture (upright ergonomics) of the XSR 155 provides a comfortable riding experience both in the city and on the highway. Details like the round mirrors, compact side panels and sleek tail section give it a classic café-roadster look. The bike has been launched in four colors – Metallic Grey, Vivid Red, Greyish Green Metallic and Metallic Blue. Apart from this, it also comes with two accessory kits Scrambler and Cafe Racer. It has an aluminum swingarm which further enhances its premium and sporty feel.
Billed as a premium entry-level motorcycle, the Yamaha XSR 155 bridges the gap between performance-focused commuter bikes and mid-size retro roadsters. It will give tough competition to bikes like Royal Enfield Hunter 350, TVS Ronin and Honda CB350RS.
