BCCI: The great sports event Paris Olympics 2024 is starting from 26 July and will conclude on 11 August. This time 117 athletes from India are participating in the Olympics and the number of medals for India is expected to reach double digits. But now even before the Paris Olympics begin, the BCCI has decided to give Rs 8.5 crore to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

BCCI secretary Jai Shah wrote on social media platform X that I am proud to announce that BCCI supports our athletes representing India at the Paris Olympics 2024. We are providing 8.5 crores to the Indian Olympic Association for the campaign. We wish the entire Indian contingent all the best. Make India proud. Jai Hind.

117 Indian athletes participating in Paris Olympics

The contingent of 117 athletes from India who have left for the Paris Olympics includes 70 male and 47 female players. The largest contingent in this includes 29 players participating in athletes’ events, which will be led by Neeraj Chopra, who won the gold medal in the javelin throw event at the Tokyo Olympics. This is the second largest contingent of India in the history of the Olympics. A total of 140 support staff members are also going along with 117 players.

India has won a total of 10 gold medals in the history of Olympics, out of which 8 gold medals have come from hockey. Abhinav Bindra and Neeraj Chopra are the Indian players who have won gold in individual events. In the last Olympics, India won 7 medals, which was India’s best performance in an Olympics.
