New Delhi, 6 October (). The bugle of Bihar assembly elections is played. On Monday, the Election Commission of India announced the schedule of Bihar assembly elections. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that this time there will be 90,712 polling booths in Bihar. There will be 13,911 booths in urban areas and 76,801 booths in rural areas. Women will have the responsibility of 1,044 polling booths.
CEC Dnyanesh Kumar informed that the total number of voters in Bihar is about 7.43 crore. These include about 3.92 crore male and about 3.50 female voters. He said that there are 1,725 third gender voters. About 7.2 lakh disabled voters, senior citizens above the age of 4.04 lakh 85 are also in the voter list, while the number of voters above 100 years old is 14 thousand. The first time voters are around 1.4 million.
In the press conference, CEC Dnyanesh Kumar said that this time the elections of Bihar will be easy and easy for voters. The entire electoral machinery will stand with voters with promptness. Law and order will be strictly monitored and elections will be held in a completely peaceful and transparent manner.
He said that the voter list was purified in Bihar through a special intensive revision (SIR) started on 24 June. The draft list was released on August 1 and handed over to all political parties. From August 1 to September 1, time was given for objection and claim. The final voter list was released on 30 September after testing of eligibility. This list has also been given to all political parties.
He informed that if anyone is left wrong in the voter list, then the District Magistrate can be appealed. If someone’s name is left out, he can get twisted till 10 days before the nomination.
Please tell that in 2020, Bihar assembly elections were held in three phases. In the first phase, voting was held for 71 assembly seats on 28 October 2020, while in the second phase, 94 seats on November 3 and 78 seats in the third phase were held on 78 seats. The counting of votes took place on 10 November.
