New Delhi. Famous social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is sitting on an indefinite hunger strike since June 28 at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding constitutional security of Ladakh and other demands, has issued a big message late on Wednesday night. Today is the 19th day of his fast. Along with sharing the update related to his health, Wangchuk has made an emotional appeal to the people of the country to take a big step on July 20. In a video message released on social media, Sonam Wangchuk said that she is receiving messages from thousands of people, many elders and political leaders from across the country asking them to end their fast. Some people have even appealed to the court that the government should forcibly feed them. Clarifying his position on this, Wangchuk said: “There are two things, firstly, even if I eat the food, what will it change and what message will it send? The only message it will send to the government is that there is no need for accountability, people sit and get up and go away on their own.”
Said on health – ‘Medical reports are normal, he is not going to die so soon’
Giving information about his physical condition, Wangchuk consoled his supporters. He said, “My condition is not such that I will die in two-four days. I am undergoing many medical tests continuously and as per the fast of 18 days, my results are quite normal. There is definitely weakness in the body and the muscles are wasting away, but my heart is still functioning properly. I can extend this fast for many more days.”
This big appeal for 20th July
Sonam Wangchuk has appealed to the public not only to urge them to break the fast, but also to come forward in support of the movement. He said, “I would request you all to take a small step. On July 20, along with many MPs, you all should come here in such a large number that a strong message reaches the government. When we come together in thousands and hand over this entire issue to the Parliament of the country, then I will also be confident that the fight for Ladakh is now in the right hands.”
‘Let’s Parliament’ march on 20th July
It is noteworthy that the monsoon session of Parliament is going to start from July 20. On the same day, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has called for a peaceful march to the Parliament House under the ‘Chalo Sansad’ campaign to protest against the alleged irregularities in the examinations and demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. This party is also continuously protesting at Jantar Mantar, with which Wangchuk has also appealed to the public to unite.
