A massive fire broke out in a complex on Kalubha Road in Bhavnagar, Gujarat on Wednesday morning. The complex houses several private hospitals, pathology labs, shops and offices. The fire spread panic in the complex. According to initial reports, the fire started from the pathology lab and quickly spread to other areas.
Due to the spread of smoke, the patients admitted in the hospital of the complex started having difficulty in breathing. Many patients, children and elderly people got trapped. As soon as the information was received, several fire brigade teams reached the spot. Officials said that considering the intensity of the fire, a total of 10 fire engines were sent, while more than 50 firefighters are engaged in relief and rescue work.
20 people were evacuated safely
According to Fire Officer Pradyuman Singh Jadeja, 19 to 20 people have been evacuated so far. Rescue teams broke windows at NICE Children’s Hospital and other hospitals and pulled patients out of the stairs. Many children were taken to safety on stretchers through glass. “Our team is working swiftly. There is no news of any casualty so far. Fire extinguishing and cooling work is going on,” the officer said.

Local people also helped in the rescue operation. He helped the fire department in rescuing patients, children and elderly people trapped in the smoke. As soon as the fire broke out, panic spread in the area and people started running away. Medical staff immediately started shifting patients to other hospitals.
The fire brigade said that the fire has been controlled to a great extent and cooling work is going on. The exact cause of the fire is still being investigated. Patients trapped inside the hospital are being evacuated. People have been requested to stay away from the building.
The accident will be investigated
An official said an investigation would be conducted into how and why the fire broke out. It is suspected that short circuit could be the reason. The pathology manager will also be questioned. No one was injured in the incident. The fire brigade reached the spot on time and started rescue work.
