ACB action in Bharuch: Three policemen arrested for taking bribe of Rs 1 lakh in return of mobile phone.

Bharuch, July 15 (). Three policemen posted in Gujarat’s Bharuch district were caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh in exchange for returning a mobile phone seized in a prohibition case.

According to the ACB, the complainant is a vigilant citizen, against whom a case was registered under the Prohibition Act at Panoli police station. After legal process he was sent to sub-jail. After getting bail, he reached the police station to take back his mobile phone.

According to the complaint, assistant head constables Anirudh Dhadhal and Jaideepsingh Parmar had demanded Rs 3 lakh for the return of the mobile.

When the complainant said that he could not arrange such an amount at once, it is alleged that Dhadhal agreed to take the amount in three installments of Rs 1 lakh each.

Instead of paying the first installment, the complainant approached ACB. After this, the ACB laid a trap in the “D Staff” room built in a container located opposite Panoli Police Station in Bharuch district.

During the action, the complainant talked to Dhadhal as per the pre-decided plan. It is alleged that Dhadhal asked him to give the money to Lok Rakshak Police Constable Sagar Chavda. As soon as Chavda accepted Rs 1 lakh, the ACB caught him red-handed and recovered the amount.

ACB alleges that the three accused were taking bribe in collusion with each other.

According to officials, Anirudh Dhadhal is currently posted at Ankleshwar City Police Lines and is originally a resident of Rajkot district. Sagar Chavda is posted at Panoli police station and is originally from Bhavnagar district. Jaideep Singh Parmar is posted in Ankleshwar City Police Line and is originally a resident of Surendranagar district.

This case is the latest in a series of anti-corruption actions taken against policemen in Gujarat in recent times.
