Adhikamas Katha Chapter: Holy month dedicated to Lord Vishnu, every day's story and donations give inexhaustible virtue.

In Hinduism, Adhikamas (also known as Purushottam Maas) is considered an extremely sacred and rare time. According to religious beliefs, this month is directly dedicated to Lord Vishnu. In this special period, special importance has been given to fasting, worship, chanting, meditation and charity. It is believed that every virtuous work done in Adhikamas gives manifold results and opens the way for happiness, prosperity and spiritual progress in a person’s life.

🕉️ Why is Adhikamas special?

Adhikamas is called “Purushottam Maas” because Lord Vishnu himself is considered the presiding deity of this month. According to the calendar, this month comes approximately once every three years and brings special religious energy unlike other months. During this period, any auspicious work, worship or donation is considered extremely fruitful.

📖 Importance of stories of Adhikamas

It is mentioned in religious texts that there are different stories associated with each day of Adhikamas, which reflect the different forms of Lord Vishnu and the faith of the devotees. Listening or reciting these stories brings positive energy within the human being and destroys the obstacles in life.

It is believed that a person who listens to Katha regularly throughout Adhikamas, gets spiritual purity in his life and becomes free from sins and earns virtue.

🌺 Special importance of donation

Donation in Adhikamaas is considered a very auspicious deed. Donating food, clothes, money, water and religious books in this month is said to be especially fruitful. Especially by helping the poor and needy, one gets special blessings of Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi.

According to religious belief, even a small donation made in this month gives manifold results and brings happiness and prosperity in a person’s life.

🌿 Importance of fasting and meditation

Devotees observe fast during Adhikamas and worship Lord Vishnu with Tulsi, yellow flowers, incense sticks and mantras. Chanting the mantra “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” is considered especially auspicious this month. Along with this, recitation of Bhagwat Katha and Vishnu Sahastranam is also considered extremely virtuous.
