All India Cine Workers Association has come forward in support of actor Rahul Roy amid criticism regarding his recent viral video. The association has condemned trolling on social media in this entire matter, calling it “wrong and insensitive”. Along with this, the association has also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding provision of pension and medical insurance for the artists above 60 years of age in the film and television industry.
In its official statement, the association said that the journey of becoming a star has been changing with time and in every era, artists have made their mark through their hard work. Referring to artists like Rajesh Khanna to Shahrukh Khan and Ranveer Singh, the statement said that every generation has its own icons.
The association made a special mention of Rahul Roy, saying that he had made his mark with the historic success of the 1990 film ‘Aashiqui’ and was one of the faces of the youth during that period.
The matter came into limelight when Rahul Roy shared a video on the famous song ‘Tere Dar Par Sanam’ on social media. After this video, some social media users made fun of him and trolled him, to which the association has expressed strong objection.
The association says that such behavior is not only wrong but also shows disrespect towards senior artistes. He has appealed that the contribution of artists should be respected and not trolled.
Currently, this issue remains a topic of debate on social media, where one section is standing in support of Rahul Roy, while the other section is emphasizing the need for responsible behavior on digital platforms.
