New Delhi . Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday participated in the 79th Delhi Police Raising Day, where he gave medals to police personnel and praised their dedication, public safety role and excellent service. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “The foundation stone of 10 new projects of Delhi Police has been laid here today. In the first phase of the program to connect Delhi with 10 thousand cameras, 2100 cameras have been connected live. The work of connecting more than 15 thousand cameras already present in Delhi has been completed. I am confident that the Safe City scheme will take the security of Delhi a long way in the coming days. It is very important to maintain law and order in the country’s capital. Because the responsibilities of Delhi Police and their effective discharge are of special importance for the entire country.” He said that Delhi is not just a city, but the heartbeat of our country’s democracy. It is the center of self-respect and identity of the nation. Being the capital, it is extremely important for the security arrangements here to be at the highest level. Many diplomatic meetings, international conferences and national festivals are organized in Delhi. Also here is the residence of the Honorable President and the official residence of the Prime Minister. Keeping in mind all these important institutions and events, the responsibilities of Delhi Police increase even more.
Amit Shah said, “The Special Cell of Delhi Police has taken effective action against drug syndicates, fake Indian currency notes gangs, complex cyber crimes and organized crimes. Not only this, the Special Cell has also played a successful and important role in the investigation of terrorist incidents.”
He said that in the coming days, when there will be talk of justice in the country, then history will definitely mention three new criminal laws, whose aim is not punishment but justice. These laws have been made in the Indian Parliament. We have established a justice-centric system by repealing the laws made by the British about 150 years ago. After full implementation of these laws across the country, we will ensure that justice is provided to the Supreme Court within 3 years in any crime committed in any corner of the country. After full implementation of the three new laws, we will be successful in taking the conviction rate to 80 percent.
