Guwahati, July 5 (). Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said preparing the state’s youth for global employment opportunities through skill development, employment and entrepreneurship and building ‘self-reliant Assam’ are among the top priorities of his government.
Addressing the trainees during his visit to the North East Skill Center at Gorchuk, the Chief Minister said that the State Government is making continuous efforts to connect the youth with employment opportunities, especially in Japan. For this, special training in Japanese language is being given under CM Flight Scheme.
He said that under this scheme, so far around Rs 1.5 lakh has been spent on each trainee in four phases. With this amount, they are being provided education and special training, so that they can get employment in industries and other institutions of Japan.
During the visit, the Chief Minister inspected the infrastructure of the center and reviewed the skill development and employment-oriented training programs conducted under the Assam Skill Development Mission. He also interacted with the trainees and trainers undergoing Japanese language training.
After this, the Chief Minister visited the Integrated Directorate Complex under construction at Betkuchi and took stock of the progress of the project. In this complex, 54 directorates of the state government will be shifted to a single complex.
The Chief Minister said that this integrated complex will make governance more effective and citizen-centric by bringing various departments under one administrative centre.
He directed the officers to provide all the necessary public facilities like primary health centre, canteen, provision of clean drinking water on every floor, high quality toilets, separate parking for two-wheelers, four-wheelers and cycles and fully air-conditioned offices in the campus.
The Chief Minister also directed that the directorates be shifted to the new premises in three phases, so that the process can be completed smoothly.
Apart from this, Himanta Biswa Sarma also inspected the Sarusajai Stadium complex and its surrounding area. Here he reviewed the proposed master plan of integrated urban development.
He said that the objective of this project is to develop this entire area as a modern urban center with world-class infrastructure, better connectivity, advanced civic amenities and sustainable urban planning, thereby providing more facilities and better quality of life to the people.
