New Delhi, October 19 (). Assam Rifles, led by the Army’s Spear Corps, carried out a swift and coordinated operation in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh. In this, he safely rescued two kidnapped laborers from the capture of National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K). Defense officials gave this information on Sunday.
According to officials, armed cadres of NSCN-K abducted two laborers from a construction site in Laho village of Dadam circle in Tirap district on Saturday.
Defense Ministry officials said that based on the intelligence, Assam Rifles troops were immediately dispatched and a coordinated search and rescue operation was launched in Nianu area to find the abducted laborers and arrest the culprits.
Officials said that during the search operation the militants started indiscriminate firing on the security forces.
The security forces responded with restraint and professionalism, ensuring the safety of civilians and preventing any collateral damage. In this operation, the security forces successfully rescued the workers, which shows their professional attitude and restraint.
As a result of timely action by Assam Rifles personnel, both the workers were successfully rescued without any loss and further destructive actions by the group in the area were prevented.
The rescued people are being brought to Khonsa for medical checkup and assistance. According to officials, the search and sanitization operation is ongoing.
It is noteworthy that last month the Central Government had extended the ban imposed on NSCN-K, all its factions, branches and front organizations for five years for their involvement in activities prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India.
According to a notification issued by the Home Ministry, the NSCN-K has declared its aim to secede from the Indian Union and create a sovereign Nagaland comprising the Naga dominated areas of the India-Myanmar region and has formed an alliance with other outlawed organizations like ULFA-I.
