The case of alleged theft related to offerings at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya has now taken a big legal and investigative turn. Former officials Champat Rai, Anil Mishra and Gopal Rao have been interrogated in the case and their statements have also been recorded. After interrogation Champat Rai left for Delhi.
Meanwhile, this matter has now reached the Supreme Court. A petition has been filed by lawyer Anoop Awasthi demanding a CBI investigation, however, the court refused to hear it immediately and asked what was the hurry. The court said that the case will be heard after the holidays.
On the other hand, police investigation has also intensified. On Monday morning at around 10.30 am, the police team reached Ayodhya Dham branch of SBI to check the bank accounts of 8 accused lodged in jail. Of these, the accounts of 7 accused were found in this branch. The police have seized the bank statements of all the accounts and are now investigating how much and what kind of money came into the accounts of the accused after getting jobs in the temple.
Apart from this, the police has also issued notice to two employees of the bank and is preparing to interrogate them. On the other hand, all the 8 accused were presented in the court, where the police did not demand their remand. After this, the court has sent all the accused to judicial custody for 14 days. Amidst the sensitivity of the case and increasing legal complexities, the investigating agencies are now taking further action by keeping the financial transactions and bank records at the center.
