There is no indication of when this hatred began or how it grew. Her family says she was completely normal, and never had any signs of mental illness. Neighbors say that she seemed calm, educated and intelligent. But inside this silence, like a black spot, there was growing a passion, a terrible jealousy and a violent anger.
Poonam got married in 2019. She had a son in 2021 – named Shubham. The whole family was happy. But this happiness did not last long. Her husband runs a washing service centre. Poonam often had disagreements with her in-laws. On January 13, 2023, when her sister-in-law Pinky came to her parents’ home, her 11-year-old daughter Ishika was also with her. That day there was activity in the house and the laughter of children was echoing. No one knew for how long Poonam had been looking at that girl, for how long she was feeling strange uneasiness. As soon as he found Ishika alone, he drowned her in a water tank.
To hide the murder, he also killed his three-year-old son Shubham. Losing a child is the biggest sorrow in the world for any mother, but here, a mother deliberately killed her child, just to hide her earlier crime. The family believed his story. Who could have thought that a mother would kill her own child?
The family considered both the deaths as accidents. But now, police investigation has made it clear that these were not accidents. Shubham was Poonam’s own son. During police interrogation, he also confessed that he killed his son so that the family would not suspect him. Even the investigating officer was shocked to hear that a mother could kill her own child. Then came August 18, 2025. Poonam had gone to her maternal home. A little girl was sleeping in the silence of the night. Poonam picked him up, took him towards the animal enclosure, and drowned him in water. When his uncle became suspicious, his mother said, “Don’t make such allegations.” Who could have imagined that this denial would hide the death of another child?
And then December 1, 2025… the day that revealed the entire truth of the story. Vidhi was only six years old. The family was busy with the wedding. Amidst the rush, Poonam followed him into the storeroom. The tub was full of water. He brutally drowned the girl, and within moments it was all over. But this time, his story was about to come out. The police became suspicious. Inquiries took place, and one by one all the hidden secrets began to be revealed. Every crime, every child, every clue… everything was revealed.
Poonam’s sister-in-law, whose daughter Vidhi she had killed, is now holding Poonam’s two-year-old son in her lap and feeding her milk. Speaking to the media in Bawar village, Naveen said, “We were married in 2019. She was sensible. I never saw anything suspicious in her. If she has done all this, then she should be punished in the same way as she has killed these children.” Vidhi’s grandfather, Pal Singh, said, “Now I understand… once she tried to pour hot tea on Vidhi. At that time we thought it was an accident. But it was not.”
Vidhi’s grandfather also told that Poonam’s two-year-old child is now being looked after by Vidhi’s mother, who herself has lost her child. People of both Naulatha and Siwah villages said that she was educated and lived by herself and did not mix with many people. Regarding this incident, SP Bhupendra Singh said that his behavior shows psychopathic tendencies. The entire matter is still under investigation.
