Big action by Punjab Police, four arrested with 22 kg heroin

Firozpur, February 14 (). Punjab’s Firozpur Police on Saturday busted a gang of narcotics and weapons as part of an anti-drug campaign. During this time, the police have arrested four accused, from whom a huge quantity of heroin and weapons have been recovered.

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on social media platform 22 kg heroin, 2 Glock pistols (with magazines and cartridges), a car and narcotics amount of Rs 2.05 lakh were recovered from the accused.

An FIR has been registered against the accused and investigation is underway to find out the back and forth links. Punjab Police is committed to dismantling narcotics networks in India and ensuring peace and security across Punjab.

Earlier on February 12, Punjab Police achieved a major success against drug smuggling. Police busted a cross-border narco-trafficking network and arrested two active members.

7 kg 630 grams of heroin and Rs 21,800 in cash were seized from them. This action took place at Chheharta police station in Amritsar, where a case was registered under the NDPS Act.

Initial investigation by the police revealed that the arrested accused were in touch with a Dubai-based handler through virtual numbers. This handler used to help in transporting the consignment of heroin from across the border. He used to give instructions about the pickup locations and further supply chain. The handler was linked to several narcotics networks and was earlier said to be involved in a major NDPS case involving the recovery of 43 kg of heroin.
