New Delhi . On one hand, tension continues between Iran and Israel, while on the other hand, a phase of talks has begun with America. Everyone’s eyes are also on Israel and Palestine. In view of the current situation, advisories are being issued by different countries of the world. In this sequence, Britain has issued an advisory for its people living in Israel and Iran. “This travel advisory is for Israel and Palestine. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is now advising against all but essential travel to Israel and Palestine,” the advisory said. The FCDO advises against traveling to Gaza. The FCDO advises against traveling within 500 meters of the border with Gaza. Additionally, the advisory also covers the West Bank, Tulkarm Governorate, Jenin Governorate and Tubas Governorate and Route 90.
The FCDO advises against any travel within 500 meters of the Area of Separation in the occupied Golan Heights (Alpha Line). Do not try to enter the occupied Golan Heights through Syria.
In accordance with the advisory, as a precaution, we have temporarily moved some of our staff and their dependents from Tel Aviv to another location inside Israel. Our embassy is working normally. The situation can deteriorate rapidly and can be very dangerous. International borders (air and land) may be closed due to regional tensions.
The frequency of missile and drone attacks in Israel and Palestine has decreased, yet the threat of rocket and drone attacks remains throughout Israel. There is a risk that shrapnel from the intercepted missiles could fall into Israel and Palestine and could cause problems at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.
Since Israeli forces captured the Rafah crossing on 6 May 2024, border crossings into and out of Gaza have been closed to civilians and traffic. Consular support is not available from inside Gaza. In such a situation, FCDO has advised that if you are a British citizen living in Gaza and want to leave Gaza, you should contact us as soon as possible. Currently, there is no way for foreign citizens to leave Gaza alone. We are working with Israeli, Palestinian and other authorities in the region to help British citizens move safely.
The advisory on Iran read: “FCOD advises against traveling to Iran. If you are already a British citizen in Iran, whether resident or visitor, consider carefully the risks associated with your presence and stay there. British and British-Iranian dual nationals are at significant risk of arrest, interrogation or detention. Holding a British passport or having connections to the UK may be sufficient grounds for Iranian authorities to detain you. Could.”
FCOD said, “UK Government support in Iran is very limited. Face-to-face consular support will not be available in an emergency, and if you get into trouble in Iran, the UK Government will not be able to help you. Due to the ongoing security situation, we have taken the precaution of withdrawing UK staff from Iran for a period of time. Our embassy is still working remotely.”
Earlier, America had issued a travel advisory for Israel.
