Candidates' fast against JPSC, FSO exam result not declared even after 16 months

Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) is once again embroiled in controversies regarding its functioning. JPSC has been continuously in the headlines due to incidents like delay in exam results, sometimes cancellation of exams and sometimes question paper leaks. Due to these incidents, disappointment and anger towards the Commission is continuously increasing among the meritorious students of the state.

The latest case is related to Jharkhand Food Safety Officer (FSO) exam result. The examination for the post of FSO was conducted on 27 May 2024, but even after almost one and a half years of the examination, the result has not been declared yet. Lakhs of candidates had participated in this examination. Due to the result not being released for a long time, there is deep resentment among the candidates against JPSC.

Hurt by the delay in the examination results, the candidates have started Satyagraha and fast outside the Jharkhand Public Service Commission office. Candidates say that almost 16 months have passed since the examination and this examination was OMR based, yet the result has not been declared yet. Due to this delay, the youth are facing mental stress as well as financial difficulties.

Student leader Satyanarayan Shukla alleged that candidates had talked to JPSC officials several times, but each time only assurances were received. The candidates have demanded Chief Minister Hemant Soren to intervene in this matter and declare the result of FSO exam as soon as possible.
The agitating candidates have warned that their agitation will continue until the examination results are declared. He became emotional and said that he will leave from here only after the examination results are declared, otherwise he will be forced to take steps like mass suicide.
